Trying to lose weight, having IBS, and missing your gallbladder?
Gallbladder surgery is so incredibly common and it is also painfully common that people aren’t warned that their gut health will probably change drastically.
What you are told is that you don’t really need your gallbladder, that your liver will continue to make bile, and everything will be fine.
All of that is true! BUT the missing piece of this process is that your liver makes bile, your gallbladder stores the bile until you eat. Fat and food will trigger your gallbladder to release bile to aid in digestion and break down of fat.
What happens if you don’t have a gallbladder? Your liver continues to make bile but it releases the bile as it makes it into your small intestine. Food is no longer a trigger for bile release so you are missing out on the enzymes and digestive support! You can’t feel your liver making and releasing bile so it is virtually impossible to time without a gallbladder.
Then you end up with IBS, diarrhea, bloating, and gas because your food isn’t completely broken down.
There is a super easy solution: digestive enzymes, specifically lipase. Lipase breaks down fats and will somewhat replace when you are missing your gallbladder. I recommend doTERRA’s TerraZyme to support digestion. This supplement can help anyone with any type of digestive issue, not just those without a gallbladder.
Take an enzyme with each meal. Start with 1 for a light meal (like soup or salad), 2 for an average meal, and I say 3-4 when it is a heavy meal or the beer, wings, and pizza night. Heavier and fattier foods will need more help to be broken down.
You might notice you feel lighter, your gut is happier and your stomach too, your skin might clear up, and you enjoy your favorite foods again!
